as part of the com.oonics Enterprise IT-Plattform. In this diskless shared root cluster the server tier is totally independent of the storage tier, i.e. no server needs a local disk. Instead all servers are “stateless” and share the same root partition and boot device in the SAN. Server, infrastructure and storage tier of the diskless shared root cluster can be scaled independently and incrementally.
Therefor the shared root cluster is extremely scaleable (pay as you grow principle) and easy administrable, furthermore it is highly available and reduces the mean time to repair (MTTR) and the total cost of ownership (TCO) to a minimum. The Munich Trade Fair for example saves up to 65 % of operating costs since all web services are running on the ATIX diskless shared root cluster.
